How do you use “quizzes” in your classroom?

    I use short quizzes every week or so in my math classes. This lets me know exactly what students can or can't do WITHOUT any teacher assistance! I grade it only to inform my teaching; it is credit/no credit, just like a homework or class assignment.

    We have started to do a "Friday Quiz" type of thing. In reality, it is a " Most Fridays Quiz"!! It helps in our assessing of what kids can do on their own ( without parent, teacher, or peer assisatance) but doesn't have a huge impact on their end grade. IF a student does poorly on a quiz one week, but than has mastered the material the following week, that is what we are ultimately looking for- MS
