What would be the benefits to students, parents, and staff to have a “uniform” understanding of the grading system we use (i.e. same rubrics for projects, same rubrics for writings, etc.)
I would like for staff to have a uniform understanding of the grading standards and policy because it would help parents transitioning from grade to grade. Parents are very anxious going from K-4 with no grades to 5th where their child receives a grade. They compare the 1, 2, 3 to A, B, C etc. and they aren't always equal. One teacher's A doesn't equate to another. We all view grades very differently and it would be good to have a conversation regarding policy.
